Volkswagen opened the covers off its production XL1 at the Geneva Auto Show 2013. Claiming 111kmpl fuel efficiency, the carbon-fibred XL1 will be the most fuel efficient car in the world. Volkswagen will be building limited numbers of the XL1, which means it’s not slated for our market. A two-cylinder 47PS diesel engine aligned with a 27PS electric motor makes for the XL1’s powertrain. The company claims a 0-100kmph time of 12.7 seconds with a top speed hovering around the 160kmph mark.
VW is yet to reveal the pricing for the XL1 or when it will be available for order.
